The best movie ever made was released before the turn of the century and unravels the twisted layers of an unsolved murder case.
The iconic "popcorn-friendly" film is the "highest-rated" score of all time and one of the top-rated films on Rotten Tomatoes.
Critics praised the best movie of all time for being a "masterfully smart and soulful film that bows low before genre even as it betrays it" and compared it to "juicy dynamite."
According to a list compiled by the Rotten Tomatoes editorial team, the highest-rated movie of all time is 1997's L.A. Confidential, starring Guy Pearce, Russell Crowe, Kevin Spacey, and Danny DeVito.
Other legendary titles that made the list include 1972's The Godfather, 1942's Casablanca, 1954's Seven Samurai, and 2019's Parasite.
Here's what Rotten Tomatoes had to say about the plot of the legendary film:
"Three policemen, each with his own motives and obsessions, tackle the corruption surrounding an unsolved murder at a downtown Los Angeles coffee shop in the early 1950s. Detective Lieutenant Exley (Guy Pearce), the son of a murdered detective, is out to avenge his father's killing. The ex-partner of Officer White (Russell Crowe), implicated in a scandal rooted out by Exley, was one of the victims. Sergeant Vincennes (Kevin Spacey) feeds classified information to a tabloid magnate (Danny DeVito)."
