Elton John had a "nightmare meltdown" while creating his forthcoming album, Who Believes In Angels? with Brandi Carlile, slated for release this spring.

John put his heart and soul into the new album, which also features lyrics from his longtime friend and songwriting partner Bernie Taupin and writer Andrew Watt, and even experienced a meltdown trying to perfect it.

Behind-the-scenes video footage from the studio session in question, featured in the official album trailer, shows the "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" icon going through a rollercoaster of emotions to gift the world another masterpiece following his unforgettable tour conclusion in Glastonbury in 2023.

The lyrical legend sat down for an exclusive interview with iHeartRadio's Ellen K on Wednesday (February 5) where he revealed trials he faced when he and Carlile first started recording the album (which was completed in just 20 days).

"I was very tired. I wasn't feeling very well, and I was grumpy. And so the initial process was difficult as there were four people involved. And mostly it was my fault because I just was being unreasonable, and I was really worried about the album. I had a lot of self-doubt. Now, you may not believe that, but I had a lot of self [doubt] because I knew what I wanted this album to be. But you can't say, when you say that, you can't guarantee what an album's going to sound like. But when we got over the first few days, and I calmed down, the process flew and it was one of the most joyous, most exhilarating processes I've ever had in my life."

Who Believes In Angels? will be released on April 4th!
