Global Citizen Festival

Each year, Global Citizen Festival brings together music fans and activists to spread awareness and help advocate for necessary change to help make the world a better place. Since the inaugural festival in 2012, some of the world's biggest stars have performed in New York City's Central Park, and this year's lineup is just as epic as ever!

On Saturday, September 29th at 4pm ET/1pm PT, Janet Jackson, The Weeknd, Shawn Mendes, Cardi B, Janelle Monáe, and special guest John Legend will all be taking the stage in NYC. iHeartMedia will be broadcasting the festival live from Central Park on over 150 radio stations across the U.S., and streamed on the iHeartRadio app, as Global Citizen's exclusive audio media partner for the seventh consecutive year in a row.

Additionally, coinciding with the annual UN General Assembly meetings is Global Citizen's "Mandela 100" campaign which honors the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela in his centenary year. On December 2nd, The Global Citizen Festival Mandela 100 concert will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa, and will feature a lineup of stars including Beyoncé, JAY-Z, Ed Sheeran, Eddie Vedder, Pharrell Williams & Chris Martin, Usher, Wizkid, Cassper Nyovest, D'Banj, Femi Kuti, Sho Madjozi, Tiwa Savage, and more, which iHeartMedia will also be broadcasting live.

Ahead of the festival, Global Citizen will call on world leaders to fulfill their obligations to tackle some of the world's biggest challenges, including the maternal health crisis, to end child marriage, reduce the use of plastics, to fund foreign aid, and end the criminalization of poverty.

In a press release, CEO of Global Citizen, Hugh Evans, said of the organization's efforts, "In 2018, it is more important than ever for Global Citizens here in the United States and around the world to demand their voices be heard – through activism and at the polls – so that we can continue progress towards a world free from needless suffering and want. We are truly grateful to have such incredible artists, hosts and partners standing with us in a moment of history so pivotal in our fight to achieve the global goals and end extreme poverty."

Additionally, hosts of this year's September 29 festival, actor Hugh Jackman and his wife, actress Deborra-lee Furness, said, "We are thrilled to be returning for this year's Global Citizen Festival. It is important that we continue to work towards ending extreme poverty. On September 29, tens of thousands of Global Citizens will come together to celebrate being a part of this movement and the impact of their actions, and we cannot wait to be a part of it."
